A Dervish Woman in Red - LIMITED EDITION /50
Women faqirs, dervishes, and qalandars are often erased from history despite their role in propagating the faith. In my studies and travels as a South Indian Muslim, I came to learn of many different Muslim women saints who are fondly referred to by titles such as “Jogini Ma,” “Gori Ma,” “Athankarai Amma,” “Mama Jigni,” etc.
This painting of a dervish woman in red is inspired by these different figures. It was completed as an acrylic and mixed media painting on canvas a few years ago. Since I used to move frequently, this piece was damaged during the process, but fortunately this print reproduction stays true to the original and displays both its 2D and 3D textures photorealistically.
This is a LIMITED EDITION run of 50 prints, replicated on museum-grade 11×14 in. archival paper with no artificial brighteners. Each print will come signed with an edition number and certificate of authenticity. To ensure longevity, please keep framed or covered. (After these 50 are sold, they will not be reprinted!)
(Note: There will be a temporary cap at 25 prints until I open up orders more internationally.)
